PARALLEL KEYPAD NOTES AND UPDATES

EDITOR TO USE:
Any changes recommended below in your AUTOEXEC.BAT or Windows files
may be done using any true text editor. If a word processor is used,
be sure to load and save the file in ASCII text mode. The
EDIT.EXE program in DOS or the NOTEPAD program in Windows in
the Accessory group work well, or TEDIT in OS/2 Warp.

IMPORTANT CHANGES:
Both BREAK and RAMBOOST must be removed from the CONFIG.SYS file.
FAXMAN.EXE must be loaded after the line starting with
    C:\GENO621\MICRO...

DIFFERENT KEY LAYOUTS:
Some programs require a different code set then that provided by the
Keypad. The Keypad outputs the key codes for the top row number keys
    above the alpha keys.

To install for operation with different key layouts using redefinition
files supplied on the master disk, start the install program:

                        DOSINST FRENCH.DEF

The above sample is required for use with French and Belgian
keyboards. The Keypad uses the numerical upper row of keys
over the alpha section of the keyboard. The French keyboard
inverts this row with the symbols. Therefore it is required to
load a redefinition file to correct this. The Install program will
automatically load an additional line in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file
    called

                      LOADDEF C:\GENO621\FRENCH.DEF

    after the line C:\GENO621\MICRO BUFFER:AT ...........
(With BUFFER:STD, the LOADDEF is not required when using foreign
codes and BUFFER:VK should not be used in conjunction with KEYB xx)
and in the SYSTEM.INI file it will add a line under the
    [Genovation] section

                    Redefinition=C:\GENO621\FRENCH.DEF

The install program will make notice of the redefinition file at the
bottom of the first selection screen.

The GERMAN.DEF file is to be used for German, Danish, Finnish,
Hungarian, Italian, Latin American, Netherlands, Polish,
Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish and Swiss keyboard layouts.

United Kingdom and Canadian(UK) may use the default definitions.

The installation program may be used any number of times to
automatically install the appropriate redefinition file to
provide the required changes for both DOS and Windows. The definition
GENOALT.DEF utilizes Alt-codes to produce numbers. This will allow
programs to differentiate between the keypad ant top-row numbers.

                          DOSINST GENOALT.DEF

To make GENOALT.DEF effective, the AUTOEXEC.BAT file must be modified.
    On the line starting with C:\GENO621\MICRO ....., <<manually edit>>

    BUFFER:STD to BUFFER:VK.

Another Alternate code set ALLNUMB.DEF causes the Keypad to output
numbers regardless of the NumLock setting.

                         DOSINST ALLNUMB.DEF

In each case above, the install program will copy the proper files
into the proper directories and make the proper file entries.

LOTUS NOTES:
Lotus Releases 3 and higher use a DOS extender that is not
compatible with MICRO BUFFER:VK. If you plan to use Lotus Release
3 in DOS, use BUFFER:STD (default installation). MICRO BUFFER:VK
will cause Lotus Release 3 to abort.

MULTIPLE DOS BOOT PARTITIONS:
If multiple boot partitions exists in the CONFIG.SYS and
AUTOEXEC.BAT files, the DOSINST.EXE program will automatically
detect them and ask you which partition to install. If you want
to install the Keypad in more than one partition, rerun the
INSTALL program and perform the DOS part of the installation
    for each partition.

OS2 WARP OPERATION:
OS2 Warp operation is available only for the serial keypads.

WINDOWS 95
The Keypad will function under both Windows 3.1 and Windows 95. The
installation program will automatically select the version.

WINDOWS 95 HOT KEYS
Windows 95 has 3 hot keys that were first introduced on MicroSoft's
Natural Keyboard. These keys are available on the Micropad.
To access the 3 hot keys, the / key is the control key. If the / key
is pressed alone then released, it will output the /. If the / is
pressed and held while pressing the * key (next to it), it will
output the first Window key. If the / key is pressed with the - key,
it will output the second Window key. If pressed with the + key, it
will output the 3rd Window key. With Win 95 booted and the keypad
functional, try the hot keys. They will function in accordance
with the Windows 95 instructions. The keypads are shipped with
Windows 95 hotkeys active. If you select to use the GenCalc
adding machine, then the installation program will redefine the
Windows 95 hotkeys to be adding machine popup keys. The 17 key
keypads can have either the Windows hotkeys or the adding machine
hotkeys but not both at the same time. The installation program
can be rerun to change the setup at any time.

TEST PROGRAM:
A handy test program called KEYTEST.EXE is also supplied on the disk
to assist you in testing the Keypad. It will show you the actual
codes output for each key should you need to know them. It is also
very helpful when testing the Keypad for proper operation. It is
particularly helpful to view the alternate code sets.
